I recently stumbled across your interview in GQ magazine “The love and terror of Nick Cave” and was impressed by your brutal honesty when answering such personal questions. Are you that honest with yourself?
MARK @ Issue no. 97I have noticed that you sometimes feature a painting by my teacher, Phil Guston. He was invariably a shit-detective, and there was plenty of poop in my paintings… he was an example of brutal honesty but not mean-spirited. That honesty was, I think, a kind of hard love. I read that same love in most of your replies to questions–though you’re a softy too. Thank you for being so present for your fans. You’re a mensch.
